TEMPORARY: City of Monterey closed San Carlos Beach (the Breakwater entry) on 2026-08-13/14 because sea lions hauled out on the beach; still reported closed in early Sept 2026 and no reopening found as of 2026-10-05. The same closure happened in Aug–Oct 2025. Recheck often; flip to open when the city reopens the beach.
